This is a 5g baby guppy tank. Unfortunately, my area got hit pretty bad by hurricane milton. The power is back on, but there is no clean water, so I can’t do a water change. I was gone from my house for a week, I have no clue how the tank got this dirty. Probably from no filtration. Thankfully, all of my fish are doing fine, but I just have no way to do a water change, and I don’t know how long it will be until we can get clean water again. The plants are also messed up and I need to do some maintenance on it, but that’s a separate problem. Will they be okay? How can I help them?

  1. You could use an UV light fliter to make the water safe to use.
They are quite cheap. Test it before you put it in the tank.

  2. Effective-Wall-9829 on

If the fish are acting ok than I don’t think an action is needed. The plants will filter out the ammonia (most important for fish health) and the tank probably just looks dirty from being able to build up the bacteria colony plus algae. I hope you’re all ok from the hurricane!
