My tank went super cloudy and I thought there was just a bacterial Bloom going when I checked with my API ammonia test it showed so green that it was blue and I thought no way this is accurate that I ignored the test. I finally got to the pet store today to get some new ammonia testing and this one also turned so green it became blue. So it turns out my ammonia was just really fucking high.
What's even weirder is that none of the fish showed really any signs of stress during this period they were kind of hovering near the top but they always kind of hover near the top and I didn't lose any of my animals which is crazy.
Anyway just a reminder that if your tank is cloudy and you just did take maintenance you probably crashed your cycle and need to do something about it.

Never rinse filter media with tap water. Always use tank water during a water change.
