This is Biscuit (1yo) and he keeps tearing his fins 🙁

I THINK I’m doing everything right (live plants, tannins, salt, low flow, good parameters, smooth scape) and I’m not massively worried about fin rot – even if the margins of the rips look a bit red and crispy initially, topping up the botanicals seems to revert them back to clean-looking within 24hrs – more the injury itself.

Should I be more worried about infection? I do fret about his quality of life…surely it must affect his swimming, and healing a split must put extra stress on his poor lil system. Or am I overreacting and this is totally normal for a fancy lad?

I wouldn’t stress much about infection if they are otherwise healthy, but if it does happen you’d catch it before it gets severe and there’s many treatments. my betta has had rips in her fins before that have healed relatively quick
