I'm just wondering if it might be indicative of a problem with the bacteria or something. Also if you've got a Sydontis Catfish and have suggestions for real veggies to feed them let me know.

What else is in the tank?

I’d remove them, it’s just normal bacteria growth, but it’ll foul up the water.

Did you cook the carrot before feeding it to them? I’d normally do something like spinach or zucchini or cucumbers that are cooked or at least boiled a little beforehand. You can also do algae wafers or bloodworms.

  2. Try green peas instead. Just about every fish I have had over the decades love them. For smaller fish smoosh a few up between your fingers to create smaller bits. Larger fish can usually handle them whole or halves, although usually pop the peas out of their skins. I use frozen ones and just let them thaw, so you don’t have to cook them. However we we do cook peas for us humans I usually grab some for the fish so cooked is fine as well.
