Pinkish white cyst looking thing on the edge of his eye, he's still eating as usual (he loves hair algae) and there's no signs of any illness with taskmates (neon/cardinal/ember)
Is this the start of popeye? Looks different on photos his eye doesn't seem to be bulging out.

Not a disease expert but it looks like a fungal infection. Separate your fish in a hospital tank and treat it. I would also do big water change and siphon/gravel vac your main tank. Clean the glass and filter. Here’s an article from Aquarium Co-Op regarding treatment.
