Going out on Lake Michigan and trail creek around Michigan city, any advice for targeting salmon? (Pic for attention)

I’ve been trying to catch a salmon for 4 years now, traveling to the lake a few times a year and have yet to have any luck. I only recently got a kayak I trust on that kind of water, so I’m confident enough to venture out now. Would love some tips for finding them.
