When dry casting to see if my godson Spider-Man rig and my rig worked tonight my hook managed to get royally tangled. Is my lead too long at 2.5 ft? I over compensated the length to make up for my future mistakes thing things together..

I used 10 lb main mono to 8 lb leader fluorocarbon using a janky seaguar knot. Sinker sits about 2 feet from the hook.

After spending 30 min detangljng I was going to try casting with bait in the daylight to see if it tangles again or

DO YOU THINK I SHOULD SHORTEN IT SIGNIFICANTLY IMMEDIATELY AND REDO MY MAIN TO LEADER CONNECTION?

Subcontext- I have no idea what I’m doing in case it’s not obvious. I’ve had success with the “sinker rig” previous versions- I just cleaned it up after trying to some other variations..just going to catch and release whatever’s in the pond- panfish to catfish to basse…going to set up a bobber rig if this proves to be too much.

I use some 6ft long leader. The length is not really the problem. But your knot looks bulky. I would try another knot like the Alberto or better the FG knot. It wouldn’t be slow down in the guides, leading to tangles.
