  1. That’s a popping cork, I tie my main line to the top and a 20 lb fluro to the bottom with a shrimp rigged onto it, great for spec trout 👍🏽

Just a guess but it looks like a float with an incorporated swivel system and a bar that lets it slide freely on the line for a couple inches so my guess would be that you tie it on and then tie a leader onto it and you can attach small jigs to bob them up and down below the surface of the water.

Found a listing for similar ones in highlighter yellow on Amazon under the title “THKFISH Fishing Floats Bobbers Fishing Popping Cork Trout Float Rig Weighted Popping Floats Cork Trout Floats for Fishing Saltwater 4PCS”. It appears that they’re made for trout fishing and similar fishing techniques so you’d attach a leader of a desired length underneath and then tie on trout jigs or bait. They look like they’d work for more than trout too probably crappie and panfish in general as well as carp.

Wow. I can tell yall are nowhere near the coast. You should try it OP. Fun way of catching reds and specs if you are near saltwater
