I’m no expert but the bills on those crankbaits look like they could go deeper than 5’ without too much effort. You can learn to control depth of a crank bait once you understand/get a sense by testing your reel cranks and you could have it work in that shallow depth. I’d be more annoyed though by the vegetation in your canal. Crankbaits + weeds = something more than mildly infuriating.
