This isn't a full aquarium, but my toads have a shallow pond in their vivarium, and I just added some snails to it yesterday. Today I noticed what looked like tiny snails at first glance, but then I noticed they had legs. Lots of legs, and short little heads.

This video isn't great, I tried to take one while the underside was visible, but it had righted itself before I could.

There's a few of these, and they're very small, smaller than a pencil eraser. They move slow and seem fond of eating waste. I think I've seen them before in the creek beside my apartment, but in huge clusters that are stuck securely on rocks (reminds me of barnacles). I've never just seen them moving around and certainly didn't expect them to have legs.

I just wanna know what these are more than anything. And if they're safe.

I'll add pictures in the comments, though I don't know if they'll help much 😅

I'm in Western NY, USA and these are freshwater guys, if they're what I've seen in the creek.
