Just got this guy yesterday, was sitting and watching him for a few minutes tonight and noticed he kept swimming back and forth and biting at the glass. No idea why he’s doing this?

He’s been trying to eat pretty much any organic matter in his tank; plant roots, stuff on the filter, and every bit of food I’ve given him (only fed him the recommended amount of pellets and bloodworms).

    Tank parameters:

    79 Fahrenheit

    7.4-7.6 pH
    0 ppm ammonia
    0 ppm nitrite
    5-10 ppm nitrate

The water in the cup I brought him home in was awful, 4ppm ammonia and .50-1 ppm nitrite. Not sure how long he was in there.

Biting the glass is a hilarious term. Just doing angry kisses! Trying to fight their reflection, doesn’t seem to be stressing them out

  3. It’s either he wants to fight his reflection, or he’s begging for good haha

My girl does it, she’s just hungry

My betta does this every single time he’s hungry. He does this until I put my hand over top the water with his lil pellets. Then he eats and swims off and stops biting the glass

Reflection fighting. Not normally an issue unless they do it constantly.

My Nefertari has that issue, i have to dose her tank with rooibos and oak tea to darken the water enough that she doesnt get stressed into losing color.
