I got a betta back in February from PetSmart. He was solid blue. Didn't take a picture but he looked somewhat like the first pic (from the Internet). After a mild fin rot recovery, he started to get white streaks on his fins that I thought might be a sign of fin rot. Well, fin rot never developed and now he looks like the second picture. Some spots on his head is pale pinkish orange.
I've only heard of multi-colored bettas turning colors. Has this happened to anyone's solid colored bettas? I've had maybe 5-6 bettas before him, some solid, some bicolored, before this guy but none of them ever changed colors.

He's in a 10-gallon, heated (80°), HOB filter, with two nerites. Water parameter 0/0/0. Tank is cycled, around 8 years old, 10-20% WC weekly, occasionally bi-weekly if I'm busy. Feed 2-3 pellets of bug bites once in the AM before going to work and once when I come home 8 hours later. Usually fast on Sunday.

Not a Koi, but most likely marbling, Koi is the commercial term for tri-colored marble betta. ^^
