It is time to add a spinning setup to my arsenal. I will mainly be using this for soft plastics like drop shots, Texas rigs and wacky rigs. What’s the best of the best. The cream of the crop. Or even the best bang for my buck?

The techniques you mention suggest that you’re targeting bass? In that case, you can grab a Daiwa Regal, Pflueger President, or any reel of that caliber that is on sale. Doesn’t matter much.
Go for something really, really light and sensitive for the rod. For spinning I’d go ML/F for your requirements. Perhaps a St Croix Black Bass, or Fenwick HMG?
