I got the Bearking reel, model Assassin 2000 (Chinese brand from Alie Express) for about $20. We’ll see how it works in saltwater (I’ll put a little oil on its bearings just in case).
It looks good, it feels good, but we'll see a few trips to salt water to see if it holds up.
I would spray it with some wd40 to give the whole outer some protection. Rinse after every session (per normal). Maybe do a sweep across the body screws to make sure things are nice and tight, minimising water ingress.
My china specials (kastking, piscifun) seem to have lasted, but i dare not open the up and see 🙈!
