I have two 7ft mh baitcaster setups already, wanting to get a spinning reel. Have it down to 3 I believe. Am also open to buying something else separate.

BPS JM Carbonlite $160

Daiwa Regal LT/BPS Pro Qualifier $150

Quantum Accurist s3 PT 2500 (Dad has offered to give it to me but would throw some money his way) and paired with a different rod. I can't find hardly any info on it and I know the gear ratio is a smidge slower then I might want.

Will be using mainly as a soft plastic creature/stick/worm rod.

Thanks!

  1. For a worm rod, you can go M or ML with a 1000-size reel. That also gives you some flexibility for multi-species/small lure fishing. My favorite setup is actually my crappie rod, it’s a 6’6” ML spinning with a 1000-size Lews reel, running 6lb mono (one of these days I’ll upgrade the reel but haven’t had the need to so far). I can throw stuff as light as 1/16oz, but it’ll handle 7” Texas rigged worms just fine. My lady has a 6’ Daiwa M with the same reel, 10lb flouro, and she can go down to as light as 1/8oz and up to 3/8oz.

Having a setup like that, one that can also handle small lures, makes you almost skunk-proof. Bass ain’t biting? Tie on a little crickhopper or something and go to town.
