Im looking for a decent baitcaster to start off as a beginner and Id rather invest now into something I can learn into. Right now I see theres the Shimano Curado 200M for about 140$, the 24 Tatula SV 100 for $219, and the 24 Tatula 100 for about $124.

Is this older model going to perform as well as the newer, “cheaper” redesigns? Any advice is appreciated!

  1. As long as it’s last year and good value, spend about 120-150 on the rod and get a 120+ value reel.

  2. Buy from scheels

Also the handles on the tatula are small I bought Gomexus but it is not required.

  3. Also kinda depends who you ask but some will recommend a dc reel first. More money up front but shrinks the learning curve that comes with baitcasters………personally I don’t need dc reels but if I did want one I’d get JDM.

  4. This is a completely different real than all the ones you have listed. Daiwa hasn’t redesigned the Elite yet.

I would get the 24 Daiwa Tatila SV for $219. It has additional brakes on the spool that won’t give up casting distance. It’s unique to that model. It’s definitely reel that you can grow into but also newbie friendly.
