I bought a ridiculous 6m pole for my friend for his birthday and I was expecting it to have a covered hook on the end or something to attach line to.

Looking at it though, it just has a 3” piece of red string glued to the end section.

Has anyone seen anything like this before and know what to do with it?

Thanks!

  1. Tenkara rod. Japanese fly fishing.

You could also add some Mono and a hook sinker and float for a cane pole.

  2. Nah, not tenkara. Too long.

In my country it’s called *tegeg*. Usually used in freshwater to target common fish species like carp or tilapia. Basically just pole, line, sinker, weight, hook.
