Hi I have an aqua oak aquarium. The timber lid is going mouldy. Does anyone else have the same problem or any solutions?

The glass lid has square holes to allow pipes etc into the tank. Mould is forming on the timber lid directly above these holes. The wood gets very wet from evaporation/condensation.

I'm thinking of treating the wood and installing plastic to better cover the holes in the glass.

Aqua Oak seems to be a very common tank maker, so I was hoping to know if anyone else had the same problems or any advice? I also thought it would be a useful watch-it to share with the community. Thanks!
