I sacrificed about 10 different lures over the course of 6 punishingly windy hours without so much as a nibble from anything other than rocks. Then just as I was about to call it quits after donating yet another lure to greedy Ashokan, I found a little pool the wind was blowing into and managed to snag my first smallie! I got him on ol’ reliable (a 3.5” keitech swing impact in the smallmouth magic color). I’d say it was a decent trade😂 didn’t have a scale or a measuring tape sadly but I’m just happy my first smallie was this chunky boy.

Caught at the Ashokan Reservoir in Shokan, NY.
I used a Daiwa Crossfire LT combo rigged up with a 3.5” Keitech Swing Impact in the Smallmouth Magic pattern on a bullet head hook.
The weather was sunny and super windy.
No scale or tape unfortunately🥲
