  1. Oooh that’s rough. I used to just push them through like that until my my EMS buddy showed me to pinch the skin up and put pressure on the hook away from the barb as you slowly pull it out. You have to kind of pinch up hard and pull it out a little bit at a time. This trick saved me one time I lipped a decent one with a whopper plopper in it’s mouth (I know that was dumb) and it shook sinking one of the trebles into my fingertip to the bone. No pushing that through lol after the initial “oh crap” wore off I just did like he said and slowly worked it out without doing anymore damage. However if I get one that’s almost all the through the skin might as well just send it the rest of the way… hey at least you went back to slaying them!!

  2. I did almost the exact same spot a few weeks ago. Could not pull it out, so clipped it and kept fishing. Had it numbed the next day and got it out.

  3. Ever since I started musky with them big ass treble hooks, I’ve been carrying a pair of Knipex wire cutters, they’ll cut through a heeeavy duty fish look like a hot knife through butter. So far we’ve only used them to cut the occasional hook to make fish release a little easier, but god forbid the day something like this happens, should be a fairly quick fix. All that said best of luck an get well soon!
