Could be bait or bugs, could be debris or dead floating weeds too. Google fish finder sonar interpretation and theres good info out there to learn. The fish ID is not as accurate as you can be, turn it off and learn how to read sonar properly.
Turn the scope off too. That will give you more screen to look at.

Possibly, but this looks more like hard structure to me. Were you near the base of a bridge piling, rock wall, or other hard structure? This is almost exactly what it looks like when your sonar cone intersects a bridge piling.
