Fish Room Update Ep. 144 – Cory is down to 15 aquariums now, and his goal is figuring out how to make things look better. He covered up the skylights, is adding low amounts of CO2 through an air stone to all his tanks, and added new fish and plants to the 800-gallon aquarium. He also has some tips on growing Java fern when it starts getting brown leaves. Keep watching to get an update on his Montezuma swordtails, guppies, ocean blue shrimp, fireball platies, and more!

I think that could be a good topic for the Sunday live stream, co2/air stone ect and why/why not. I got a comment on a video saying I was pretty much wasting the co2 because I was running a sponge filter. Still sorta new to co2 and don't totally understand it. I run it very very low because I'm removing it from the tank to set it up else where.
When do we get to come see you in Kentucky??😊
I like it so much better with the sky lights covered. Have never liked sky lights in general. Like these vid of you seeing what you’re up to the fish room.
I have an enormous guppy who's pregnant (though seemingly refusing to give birth), but I'm in Europe. Also kind of want to see if she has giant guppy offspring
Cory, do you sell scud? They will clear BBA from plants.
Also, antibiotics will kill bluegreen algae but this works too;
Ultralife Blue Green Slime Stain Remover.
One of my LFS has monster guppies but I'm in Canada and idk if they would ship out of country. They are called Finaddicts if you want to contact them.
Cool video
Thanks for the update.
Hey Corey, I just have a quick question? What happened to the med trio from your website?
It is always so enlightening to see how others have their tanks set up. I enjoy watching these types of videos. <•))))~{
So I have to agree to be nice to ask a question? You can do better. My question is what or did I miss the 7 things in the title?
FYI: YOUR TEETH'S LOOK GREAT
I have some pretty big Guppies but how big are you looking for?
Local store has 2” or larger female guppies from a local breeder if you are interested I can give more info. The males are smaller but females big.
I've been told by lots of people that co2 just rising to the top like you have is a complete waste of co2 and that I need the filter flow to blow it around the tank so it dissolves rather than rising to the top and bursting. Can I please get your thoughts on this? Love your videos btw
@Aquariumcoop , what about a dwarf puffer tank like red eyed red tailed puffers or a puffer similar in size ? I also have some pretty big female guppies breeding in 210G if want some of them cory .
11:35 Keeping the air collar clear has been the only pain point I've had with the Aquarium Co-Op Sponge Filters. A toothbrush has been my current solution, but it only lasts a few days to a week before the flow decreases. Excited to try the syringe method, and any other tips appreciated!
Love the fish room videos!!!
Awesome video thank you for sharing. You have some beautiful fish! I love tinkering with my tanks from time to time and trying to make them more pleasing to look at. I could watch fish for hours it’s so relaxing.
Regarding airstone and co2.
I have each co2 and air pump on those WiFi timers.
So air stone pump shut down 1-2 hours before light go on (also on WiFi timer).
And the co2 goes on.
The idea is that the co2 levels take time to increase and when the light goes on then we are aligned for plant growth.
Then we can turn of co2 a hour before light goes of (remember slow process).
And when light goes off then the air pump turn on. To give oxygen and to evacuate the co2 that is redundant.
Cory have you had Blue King tetras? I want to pair them with Diamond Tetras and one or two female Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami. Would these fish work together in a 29 gallon tank?🤷🏼♀️🤔
someone who calls them tips and not hacks. subbed!
That has got to be one of the most wasteful co2 setups I've ever seen. I hope your offish is well ventilated
Time… that hurry-up-and-wait mentality.
But sometimes it is all it needs, stop touching it and let it do its thing.
Brilliant video, no stupid gimmicks, no talking cats or other cheesy nonsense, a great insight into the fish room.
A few months ago Fish Hut of New Jersey had the biggest guppies I’ve ever seen. No lie they were Molly sized. Didn’t buy any though.
Love these fish room videos, always gives me new ideas. Thanks for all your hard work Cory, it motivates me to keep my tanks looking great and fish healthy and happy!
Hey cory i keep eels myself and they usually never bury regardless of substrate once they are older. Its usually the younger ones or when there is too much going on in the tank / water change.
Amazing video!
How big is big for guppies? I have a couple of big females. They just dropped some babies.
Your LF Rosy Barbs are awesome!
But fish don't necessarily like co2
You mentioned “bleaching out” a tank when starting one over. Sometime could you describe your method of this? Thank you. Love your videos.
If I had a nickel for every fish or shrimp that I was told eats hair algae but ignores the specific hair algae that's in my tanks….
I don’t know where you are located but I saw a HUGE guppy last week at Clear Water Aquatics in San Jose, CA.
Why did you stop selling the co2 regulator? I own one and never had a issue. If you don't want to explain here just tell me what video and I'll go watch that one too. 😁
They dont look like they have CO2 😂
Plants using oxygen with lights off , what about the people who run heavily planted tanks with no filter/air stone ? Just a tank jammed with plants and they say " haven't changed water in 15 years " . . .
In the beginning of the video in the smaller aquariums, what kind of background are you using? Great info in the video and I agree that Rosy barbs will make short work of that hair algae!
I worked at a fish shop in Oregon and a local guy brought us some enormous guppies he had bred. They looked like red tailed tuxedos but they were the size of mollies.
I saw monster guppies at The Wet Spot in Portland, Oregon in fall of 2023. I had to get an employee and ask them to see if my eyes were playing tricks on me. The employee said yup, standard female guppies. They were raised in ponds, and they were nearly as long as my ring finger, and they were fatter than my thumb. They were pregnant which made them look even bigger, but either way, they were massive. I bet each female in that tank gave birth to at least 75 babies.
My best advice …. Always have a backup air pump ( we lost power for 4 days in Texas because a hurricane) I bought like 24 d batteries ( just for this occasion) ….for my 3 backup pumps saved my fish ( when pump ran out of power new batteries) good as new
i just did a water change of my tank, i noticed in the bucket hundreds of pin sized organisms roaming around in the bottom of the bucket. what are they? i haven't been able to narrow my google searches well enough. they are just moving black dots basically
I know its a lot, but how is the expansion coming along ?
How am I just now learning that you have a wearhouse in KY. My hometown. Say what
Hello sir your fan and hobbits and aquarium store owner from india
I have dream to have store like yours
Lover your store setup what are your tank sizes in store for tetra fish aquariums
Hi Cory, I have purple dragon guppies that I am breeding. My females are 2-3 inches. And my male although a lot smaller than my females is a little bigger than my other types of guppies.
I love how real you are. ❤
Wondered just today if I could use an air stone with CO2. 😂 I will take that as a yes!
Also, what?! Its the skylights in my living room ruining photos and videos? 😅 Got it.
Your tank wall is amazing. I adore it so much! I love the process. That you share the process. It's appreciated so much!!
