I live near the maumee River in Ohio. Every spring, the walleye run up it to spawn. Started fishing it this year and had a great time. For those unfamiliar, you use braided line on your pole, then tie on a trolling sinker. After that you switch to mono and tie on a 5-9' leader line with a floating jig head on the end. You end up snagging a bunch of rocks and losing tackle … Ideally just the jig head but you lose a lot of sinkers as well. As the run continues on, it's almost impossible finding sinkers for sale around here (use a lot of ¾ and 1 ouncers).

Last year, a buddy of mine suggested going to the river during the summer when the water is lower and picking some up out of all the rocks. I have been doing that this summer with great success (closing in on 400 of them hahaha). We are in a severe drought so the river is really low in areas. I went down there last night and was able to walk out to about the midway point and found this sinker out there. It seams like it's copper and I thought it was pretty cool. When we fish in the springtime, we all wade out into the water so you wouldn't be able to cast as far out as I found this one. Some use small boats so it could have been from someone in a boat. I wonder with how low the water is if it's the first time anyone has really looked that far into the river and if it's a pretty old sinker. Who knows ha.
