Can anyone help explain why my braided line threw itself off my spinning reel? It's only been on for maybe 2 weeks and I've only gone fishing 3 or 4 times. I was out fishing last night and it threw itself off right at the reel in multiple places and even twisted on over itself in one place. Was there to much braid on? Do I need to replace the line down to the mono backing?

  1. Spoiled it way to loose to start I would say.

I would take it mostly off and do it again with a bunch of tension.

  2. itsyaboooooiiiii on

When you spool it up crank the drag down tight and make sure to punch the line with your fingers as you reel. It needs to be spooled under tension to function it’s best

  3. Did you add mono backing when spooling with braid? if not then your braid will slip and not bite into the reel.

start again and YouTube how to put braid onto a spinning reel, it’s not as simple as putting on monofilament line.
