Currently treating fin rot. Medications are no available in Canada (illegal). I’ve added almond leaves, almond bark and Alder cones to add some tannins to treat naturally. The water has become quite saturated and dark with brown and I’m wondering if there’s such a thing as too much tannins?

I think it’s only a problem if it brings the pH down too much! So just keep an eye on that? Thats all I’m aware of

No as long as your water isn’t darker than space itself. When you have more tannins than actual water, that can be an issue.

  3. The tannins will naturally go away as you do water changes, eventually.

After boiling and soaking a large piece of wood for 2 days, it still made tannins in the tank. I had a perfect amber color for a couple of months. Now it’s gone.
