I asked my partner to pick up a dwarf sucker (otocinclus) and the fish store sent her home with this. I'm concerned that it's a Chinese algae eater which I heard are aggressive. Should I return these?
I don’t think it’s an algae eater of either variety.
But I would note that well fed fish, with adequate places to hide and lots of plants to break line of sight are far less likely to be aggressive. I think the Chinese algae eater gets a bad reputation when in reality it’s poor husbandry causing them to turn to tank mates for food or to establish boundaries.
