I want a fish like this. I noticed a smaller catfish at Petco that displays this behavior in the display tank, I might go pick him up since he’s been there a few weeks. I’d say it’s normal cause I definitely observe blood parrots doing it a lot, but I’ve got over 20 fish and the closest behavior I get to that are the kuhlis hiding in the same spot so that I literally never see them. I guess the small tropicals don’t display this behavior because in terms of survival, it wouldn’t benefit them in the wild?

Yes it’s normal because he is a lurker.
