Aquariums: Heater coils glowing? Normal or unplug?
My 50w heater’s coils glow every so often, then slowly dim back to nothing. My 25w doesn’t do this, same brand but the 50W has adjustable heat settings. They’re both Pulaco
not sure but i would unplug if i were you. i have 3 heaters and none of them glow like that

Leave it glowing like that and you got slow boiled fish stew in a few hours
Edit: Would add some salt and lime juice if you plan to eat it

did you read the manual that came with it? is it supposed to glow? Mine has a little light that turns on to show you the coil is working, then the top piece like shines a bit. That may just be aesthetic?

Most heaters have metal shavings around the metal coil. It looks like maybe most of the metal came out or was never put in. If they came out it means it’s not water tight and the coil is touching water. I’d take it out and return if possible.

Uhhh, besides the heater.. I’m not sure if it’s just the photo and depth perception but, that outlet directly behind? Yikes..
