My first real salt water fishing experience. I had no idea how big this was compared to a usual mahi mahi. Even the crew were taking pictures with it.
Caught about 4 miles off the coast of Sámara, Costa Rica on our honeymoon. It was a little over 5 feet long. Felt like it weighed about 50-60 lbs.
They say a large mahi weighs in around 40.

Fantastic!
This is very big, where is it?
Your guess seems close. From the photo I would guess 45lbs.
50-55. Awesome fish, and what a way to celebrate y’all’s marriage. Congratulations and wishing you the best!
Between 35 – 40 lbs. Cant see the thickness though. I caught one last winter that was tremendously thick which added a lot to the weight. If they arent swimming major mileage and hanging out in a specific area with good feed, they can really bulk up. Dorados do three things, eat, poop and make baby dorados. Congrats.
HoI was the sea sickness?
