I always have issues with monte carlo too so I gave up on using those. I would try Dwarf sagittaria, crypt parva, and also I have good luck with hydrocortyle tipartita mini. That’s a nice retirement home for your fish 💙

I like the setup but not the tank itself, don’t like the round front ones. Just my opinion.
Otherwise looks good. Fishy looks happy

Human skulls require at least 29g and will quickly outgrow your tank. Amazing tank for a betta, however.
