I THINK that could be a juvenile redfish. Kinda looks croaker/whitingish at a glance but no chin barbels. Then noticed the one or two black spots towards the back of the fish…. Leads me to believe juvie red.

All depends on location. That could be a full grown whitefish in the intermountain west, or an itsy bitsy drum in the south.

If it’s salt or brackish water on the Atlantic coast I’d say most likely a croaker. But without a location, water type, or even an unobstructed picture of the fish, we don’t have a lot to go on.
