New to the hobby and cycling for the first time. Below is my setup and where things are at. Go easy on me, but how am I doing??
-two UNS 60A AIO 20 gallon freshwater tanks
-using controsoil over the UNS pre-made hardscapes
-planted tank with various anubias, java fern, and water wisteria (the latter of which I think is having some melt, but I hope it bounces back)
-using combination of Bug Bites, Omega One Super Color Flakes and Hikari Micro Pellets to ghost feed
-Used StartSmart Complex to get the bio going, Flourish for plant food and Prime for the water conditioner.
-bio balls for media
-water is at 84* while cycling
-pump running full pressure and pointed straight out.
-light is on from 10am-6pm currently, though thinking of switching to 8am-12pm and 4pm-8pm.
My focus right now is on easy plants and livestock, though doing a planted tank is arguably not the easiest. But I wanted something that was easy to care for.
Had plants quarantined for 2 weeks, and now planted for 72 hours. Ammonia was up to around 4 in each tank, and now down to 1 and 2. I imagine that Nitrites are getting high now. Seem to see a bit of brown algae on the plants, though it might be just some of the dust from the soil that settled there after planting.

I plan to stock the tanks with the following:
Tank 1:
1 crown betta
6 harlequin rasbora
6 kuhli loach
8-10 blue dream shrimp
Tank 2:
1 honey gourami
6 cardinal tetra
6 albino or bronze cory
8-10 blue dream shrimp
Nice looking tanks? But tell me how do you get inside of them? Is the wooden top removable?
