Are the eyes physically clear? If yes, it seems like he should be able to see and eat the pellet so im thinking if its just being picky.
Have you tried other brands of pellet? If you have access to live food it would be a great test since they cant resist those.
Try to check your water parameters as well to rule out any issues.

I know those betta bites were usually too big for my lil guys to eat. He may be waiting for it to soften up a bit before trying to swallow.
I agree with the other commenter too, live foods would be great, or even just switch to a smaller pellet. I use Hikari micro pellets to feed mine daily (and I usually fast on saturdays) and give frozen brine shrimp every other week or so as a treat/nutrient boost. I also am trying to culture copecods in a jar to be able to feed (this is mostly for my CPD and chili rasboras tho lol)!

Does he ever manage to eat them? His behaviour kinda reminds me of my betta who just didn’t like standard betta food for some reason. I ended up getting these instead since they’re a bit softer and mimic bloodworms/bug larvae and he loves them.
