Had that situation & I am admittedly terrified of snakes. I reeled it up and cast the line back out with the bail closed snapping the line. Thank goodness I didn’t have braided line at the time. Lol!

You have control of its head. Grab it just below the head pull the hook, let it go and hope for the best

I guess the best thing is a long forked stick and attempting to dehook it. Last thing I’d do is risk putting your dick beaters near it and loosing a finger.

Cutting the line, here in Texas(and most of the south) we got cottonmouths, rattlesnakes, and copperheads.
I hooked a snake just last month, probably a water snake thinking back, but better safe than sorry. I will always just cut the line
