Tried these two things on panfish and I'm wondering, I caught 4 fish on the Grub and lip hooked all 4, using the cricket I caught 2 and throat hooked both.
Does a little bit of extra length make such a difference? If so I'll start measuring my stuff against the grub for reference.
(Sorry the cricket isn't measured, these are old pictures, can't measure right now but it is probably half an inch shorter I would guess.)

Yup, that little bit does make a difference.
But I think there’s something else going on.
I think the fish are inhaling the cricket because t looks so natural. There’s not a doubt in the fish’s mind about tye authenticity of the bug offering.
With the grub, they are more likely “testing” it out, taking exploratory bites, as it is enticing but not entirely natural.
