Ignoring the mess in the background(decluttering after moving) I recently got the rig I primarily grew up on back, it was a storm combo I got for Christmas but I really wanted a snapshot reel so I got one the next year on my birthday. I was laughing though because this is definitely a casting rod(small base eye and all) and that's not a super small spinning reel which is not something I realized until I got it back today. My dad didn't realize there is a difference and we had a chuckle about it. I moved the snapshot to a different cheap but fun rod I have(bass pro micro) and put an Abu Garcia caster I had in storage on the rod and I'm gonna fish the crap out of them this year and see how well the old gear holds up(I'll probably service the old snapshot though because as I was a child. That thing caught hundreds of fish and never saw a hint of upkeep, it's already had some new line thrown on)

That’s a better picture of the reel after it’s gotten it’s new line and been moved to a new rod
That is a baitcasting rod and a spinning reel. They don’t go together, ideally.
Edit: didn’t see it was a new rod. My bad. Looks like a nice rod
