  1. This is almost a drop shot, one of the most effective ways to rig a soft plastic. You want that bait and hook sitting 90 degrees, with that jig head it will not.

  2. Sure, why not. But go for regular hook instead of jighead if youre gonna make dropshot. Also I’d make the distance from sinkers to lure a bit bigger. But I’d recommend going for three way rig or split shot

  3. I don’t fish perch, mostly bass, so take this with a grain of salt. That looks like a lot of weight. You don’t need both a weighted jig head and weights at the end of your leader. That rig is going to plummet to the bottom.

It seems to me that you’re trying to rig a drop shot. Try searching for that and look closely at the diagrams. Am I correct in that assumption? Notice there is no weight at the hook and the soft plastic should probably have a little buoyancy. And for weight you probably only need 1/8 oz for up to 10′ deep and maybe 1/4 oz or so for up to 25′ or so deep.

I’ve caught perch on a similar rig. I’d trim the plastic a little closer to the hook, otherwise fish will nibble on the end.
