I bought these off of Amazon, not quite what I expected.
They are very heavy, more like weights than a typical light lure. Hooks are at the front, and there’s a snap on the back.
Say I’m fishing down 30-40 feet, trolling. Just throw them on the line and let it go? Seems like they’ll just go straight to the bottom.
And what’s the connection on the back for?
I was planning on using these for walleye trolling, but now I’m unsure.
Advice appreciated.

These are jigs. You fish them vertically near structure. Let them fall to whatever depth, and pop them up and down.

They look like buckshots but not sure if yours rattles.

Look up “vertical jigging”.

Ok lol thanks folks!
I’ve done jigging before, but just with small jigeads with minnows and the like. Not anything this big or heavy.
I’ll give them a try next month for walleye. Headed to the bay of quinte in Ontario, normally that’s trolling but might be fun to drop some of these down and see how we do.
Thanks again everyone. I was seriously puzzled.

Yank, reel, yank, let drop. repeat within target depth zone.
Or offshore reel reel yank, reel reel yank and cast again.

Often you’ll get hit on the drop so be aware.
