Thanks to the many members of this sub who suggested a beetle spin and ultralight combo a few weeks ago when I shared how overwhelmed I was starting back in the hobby. Up until recently I had only caught Sunnies with a worm and bobber so snagging a Pike on a spinner has me still buzzing days later.
With the ultralight/ beetle spin I’m losing far less lures to snags and exploring new areas of my local lake.
I’m starting to get why sensitivity matters and learning what the different sensations mean. Also, since this rod/lure combo has been so high percentage thus far I’m able see how changing other things like trailer size/color or retrieve speed effect success .
All this to say, the guidance from this sub has been invaluable and for anyone on the fence about ultralight, jump on in and enjoy!
