She is much less active than normal, seeming to struggle to stay up near the surface, and very plump – but no pineconing observed. Water parameters are normal but I'll be doing a change soon anyway.
Her boyfriend is usually all up in her business, but he has been leaving her alone recently. Long distance relationship? I know men will often leave their wives in times of severe illness, and I couldn't bear that for her.
I've read up that this is breeding season for them, and something about a dark spot near their vent that indicates they are gravid, but nothing about a change in behavior like this.
Eggs/babies will definitely be eaten and I'm not about that breeding tank life, I just want my little lady to be loved and supported. Any advice is appreciated!

Sick probably. I had one that did exactly this before passing in a day or two.
