This video describes how you can go around a lake and cast at a 45 degree angle, to see which depth the bass are at.

Do you want to let your lure sink to the bottom? In the video, he is doing this with a jig and deep diving crankbait.

I'm wondering if I used other lures like a curly tail grub or spinner bait. Would I also want to let them get to the bottom? The crux of my question is if I say the bass are at 10 feet, does that mean I'm searching for 10 feet of water, or they are suspended at 10 feet, at different depths (10 feet, 15 feet, 20 feet, etc.)

When people talk about how deep to fish, I don't understand if that means water depth. In this strategy, he is basically looking for bass on the bottom and non suspended bass. When I have used a spinner bait in the past, I haven't paid attention to how deep it goes, but I'm not learning new info, and I suspect it draws in fish (only when they are active)

bass are generally bottom feeders so i’m assuming he’s talking about when they are at or near the bottom. he’s probly also using electronics so. suspended fish are usually out deeper and not in a feeding mood. again, generally.
