Fishing here in southern Michigan in a channel connecting two lakes. Can I expect to catch channel catfish here? It’s only about 4ft-5ft
Using cut bait

Deer carcass in the water as well. Would that attract?

  1. Jesterthejheetah on

They like crevices and hollows to lay their eggs in. Rocky shorelines are usually the best bet I’d say. If it’s just dirt sand and plants I don’t think they’d group up there for any reason. Might be some that got pushed out of other territories but it’s not where they want to be I think

  2. Any fish that hunts in both lakes will need to pass through there. Targeting a narrow area that fish have a specific reason to pass through is not a bad idea. Catfish are also ambush predators and weeds are not a bad place for them to hide from their prey.

I think you should be able to catch a channel or 2 there.
