Hi yall! i was scrolling in here and saw a post about bettas having fins too long and heavy been tired etc.
My question is ( as the title suggests) how long is too long? i never owned a betta. currently got a shrimp+CPDs tank, but the more i see videos and pics of these goofball..the more i’d like too keep one. but i’d like also to choose one that don’t end up struggling. My personal choice would be a plakat hellboy/ koi or a koi double tail . but also halfmoons . do halfmoons have the same issues as longtails?
Also, are dumbos affected by any issue cause of the ” dumbo” fins?
included pics for reference.
Thx

Halfmoon is too long. Basically if they got the whole body wiggle style of swimming, they’re weighted down too much.

I recommend the giant plaket.
I’ve had half moons, and rose tails. But both leave me feeling sad as they have the whole body wiggle.
When I did have them, I had LOTS of resting spots around the tank. I also feel like, despite what everyone says, they should be in smaller tanks. 5-6 gal. I feel like giving them a 20 gal is kinda crazy. But I know there will be people here who will disagree based on their experience with their long finned friends.
