I mean depends on species, if that was a trout instead of a bass, it would have been dead. I toss bass and bluegill like that at the creek.

Yes, but its not the toss, the toss is fine ,often called a flip….but you should aim for throwing the fish in the main body of water, not next to the rocky edge

I always let fish close to the water. But as long as the fish aren’t thrown to high or are thrown into rocks, I guess it is fine.
