Identification needed for this creature?

  1. Hey all,

    Newbie aquarium enthusiast here 🙂

I just found this creature in my nanocube aquarium. I have endler guppies in the aquarium. (and I’m trying to find a balance now that most of the bladder snails are out of it, since they ate basically all the plants, but not so much the algae…)

    I have two questions:
    What is it?

Can it harm my fish? (if so, how do I best remove it?)

    Thanks for the help!

  2. Looks like an aquatic fly larva.  Most likely harmless, I’ve not really seen them in aquariums, but this doesn’t look very predatory.   Physical removal or just leaving then to see what happens.

  3. Looks like a crane fly larvae (Tipulidae)? I believe they mostly eat leaves/vegetation.
