I spooled it exactly to where the line stopped on this spool, not sure if this is marked for you to stop spooling above or not but is this underspooled?

  1. Yes, it is underspooled. Since this spool doesn’t have a bevel on the top lip, you’ll want to stop about 1/16″-1/8″ (2-4mm) from the edge.

This will most likely be fine to use as-is but if you want it perfect, it is slightly underspooled.

  2. You can get more, but consider time on the water. If I go out for a several day, all day fishing trip, I’m loading that beast up knowing snags, line rub will get some of it and I can strip line knowing I’m good. If you are just going out for the day or just a few hours, less is more because if you get “catfished” and it strips 70% of your line, you’re fine. Memory is an issue too. B
