I chipped the guide insert on the top guide of my Tsunami Barrier II today. Should I just replace the whole guide using an Eagle Claw tip kit that I have, or would it actually just be better and/or easier to order a replacement insert online? (Directly from Tsunami? Or is there a better option?) I've replaced tips before, but it looks like this tip guide has a wrap on it that I'll have to cut/replace. I have o ly ever done simple "heat, old tip off, heat, new tip on" repairs before. And I've never done an insert replacement.

Thanks!

  1. Wouldn’t use an eagle claw, look for a Fuji guide repair kit or another quality brand and change the entire tip, never heard of replacing just the insert

  2. Don’t bother trying. Contact the manufacturer and ask them to repair it. If they won’t (for whatever reason), demand a tip replacement kit from them. The Eagleclaw ones are junk. get the correct guide for your rod.
