Probably a dumb question, but is there any reason why I couldn’t use a split ring if I want to temporarily use the single “siwash” hook (e.g., for river salmon fishing) and replace it later with a treble hook? I am guessing that a ring could not possibly affect the lure’s action?

You’ll have to cut the treble hook off either way and crush the ring on the siwash closed. You may as well just keep the siwash on there
Cut the treble off and add a split ring so going forward you can add what ever you want. If you want to use it till the hooks messed up then do it when you have a reason to.
I’ve used split rings on blue foxes before but I prefer just to use open eye siwash hooks. Wouldn’t recommend using a split ring, no reason to overcomplicate it. I have no reason to want to use a treble on these spinners and just run em single barbless, works amazing for trout and salmon and you wont lose many as long as you use proper technique.
Highly recommend gamakatsu big river siwash hooks. Sharp and strong

I see no reason why split ring or no split ring would affect the action, it’s not a spoon or crank bait. What size hook are you going with? I’m having similar thoughts myself.
As long as the hardware ur putting on isnt too large to affect the action youre good. Also try mepps flying cs out
