Ever fish a tournament, with a partner you know well, in their boat, where you knew what and where was going to work, but didn't get to work that mojo?

That's where I was this day. My partner likes fishing shallow, but the lake we were at was suffering from herbicide and algaecide treatments earlier in the year, and it seemed to have them all hanging out deeper than usual. They were absolutely biting a simple strolling rig, but my partner refused to fish that way, even after I put several fish in the boat at the beginning of the day. He finally gave up and let me do my thing with minutes left to fish, and the cake topper was breaking off the smallie that would have put us in 1st, on the boat prop, with 3 minutes left to fish.

My partner is family and I won't ever stop fishing with him. I'm just wondering how often such things happen.

Notice how rough the bass look. If anyone plans to dump chemicals in your local lakes, don't trust them when they tell you it doesn't hurt the fish.
