What’s the difference?

I am looking for surfcast reel/rod both for baits/lures. What kind of type reel is the one on the picture? What’s the difference between this one and the basic spinning reel? Any recommendation is appreciated for a good combo – surfcasting & dropping it straight to bottom from boat on sunny days.
